Modrepheniacs 2012, you should come to Beetsugar with us, bring the wife its excellent, 4 months later me and wifey were packed up with baby wipes and deckchairs, make up and hair utensils and a pocket full of monopoly money.
We headed down to folkestone for a night of luxury with the blue rinse brigade and Ian. One things for sure those seagulls could teach Linda Lovelace a thing or two about swallowing sausage, but enough of that.
We were rudely awoke at 5.00am by the seagulls (probably waiting to see if Ian was going to leave any breakfast) and a text message to say ?sorry we won?t be able to join you , as.

(a) I am poorly and can?t drink
(b) I?ve had a job come in
( c) going to an harley convention

Great a foreign rally with people I hardly know and a language I can,t speak, oh well, Next stop Dover to meet up with the hoards of scooters going to france (technically it was tim, mark and doug), who then proceeded to get on a different ferry. Well we made it without hitting any icebergs or bumping into any pirates, off we proceeded along the coast road to meet up with the others . Following a pleasant ride down following a p range at 65+ which was having problems ,we reached amiens and the campsite. Tent set up and the heavens opened for the night, well 30 minutes really. Off to Le Supermarket for a recommended all you can eat meal (can?t remember who recommended it) and some shopping. Back to the tent loaded up with british beer and walkers crisps to be met by familiar faces, yes the ufo was there , but no dogs, presume they didn?t have a pet passport, but nancy and mabel had made it.
What followed was a fantastic 3 days and nights with people who made both me and Annette feel welcome and new friends met from other counties and countries.
All that was left was the journey home, must remind my self next time though that when riding with a group

(a) first check that group is going on the same ferry as you
(b) that they are on the same time as you
(c ) they are not going on the tunnel

But we made it to the ferry and nearly boarded like them good ole duke boys .

Landing in Dover we were met by an abandoned van at the top of the car park and someone holding up a board with mau on it??.

Thanks everyone and see you next year on the 10th anniversary

Lincoln?.Friday? After what was for some of us an uneventful ride ,we arrived at the showground at 3.45 ,not bad time and we were the first ones there?then we realised we were at the wrong showground so continued on our journey and got to the proper venue 45 minutes later?plenty of tents and bikes at this one already so we set up next to Moo who was on her own, Paul couldn?t make it as?.
1. A job had come in
2. He was ill
3. All of his bikes had broke on the way

(Please delete)

Drinking and socialising followed until roughly 9.30 when Andy cap turned up on Flo?s jet.

Once the five people had put up the 2 man tent we made our way to the rooms to watch the biggest band in the world do some covers and catch up with friends old and new..

Saturday?once up and seeing as there was no official ride-out arranged we all piled into the stax car and went for a nice pleasant drive around Lincoln for 3 hours, visiting all the local supermarkets and home stores looking for a camera memory card and a blow up bed...it was then decided breakfast was long overdue so off to morrisons for brunch and to pick up some lettuce and carrot for the rabbit that everyone kept on about.
Back at the site the strawberry blonde had arrived in the green frog so after looking at some lovely mouse-mats and clothing at the parts fair it was time for beer and bananas and the gymkhana?unfortunately there was no entry from the Glevum Stax in any of these events as only one scooter was available from the club and flo had gave strict instructions it was not to be used for fun and games.. Beer and bananas done we headed off into town on the cabaret coach .

First stop weather- spoons where much to mine and grants delight they had a cider menu for £2.20 a pint, we then all ordered food for Oliver ( aka grant, aka Andy cap) to watch us eat and devour any crumbs we seemed fit to leave. We then proceeded to the next hostelry where once there oliver disappeared with some wee people who were shorter than him. Lincoln done it was back to the venue for more drinks and eventually bed. Awoken during the night by some one peeing outside and decided it was best to leave the food I had eaten earlier by the side of my tent for the rabbit to have later.
Sunday..awoken early and after checking tents and doing a register we were a man down, grant had gone awol.. where was he

1. Still walking back from Lincoln as a taxi for one is expensive
2. Drugged and taken to Scotland by the wee people
3. Arrested and in the cells for trying to steal another sign

p.s grant..sorry but I mistakenly packed your bulmers in my camping bag when I emptied the fridge.

Absolutely loved this rally. I knew I would as I had previously stayed on site at the Euro Lambretta rally in 2009.
I couldn't leave Glaws until 17:50 on friday due to school runs/sports days etc but at least it was still sunny when I left.
All went well until Coventry when I ran into torrential rain but thankfully my chin cup and sunglasses kept me safe from the elements.
Got on site at 21:30 and set about erecting my newly purchased (as I forgot I already had one in the garage) that day Tesco tent with a little help from my friends then went straight to the do where the door staff didn't seem to notice me smuggling in the half a dozen ciders I had brought with me. Met Shep and Stu who had ridden the 285 miles from East Lothian on Lamby's and changed a piston on the way.
The next morning, Kaz kindly drove us into town for breakfast and supplies in the "Cheltenham Car." I would also like to mention that Lincoln is a nice town/city and GTS's are very useful (only as ice buckets). Spent a good afternoon on site then caught the coach driven by a nice man that didn't mind us drinking.
Unfortunately I got separated form the Wild Bunch after the second pub and ended up in The Jailhouse Rock which was the weekends highlight for me as it was like Karaoke meets Deliverence. I shared a taxi back with Shep after he had bought some wine then danced til 3 when the music stopped.
Had a good hearty breakfast then we left at 10 and I got home at 2pm and the Jet sipped fuel and never missed a beat.

Weston was a blast, and I took my Servetta...how hard am I, now I know what a super hero feels like, Pants, tights and a cape next for me, I probably wont be able to wave at any auto riders now.
Journey down with Ash and His bitch Nige was easy and we met up with Mao, Danny and Ger in Bristol.
When we arrived at the Rugby club it was rammed absolutely no chance of errecting the ''Pleasure Dome'' but as always we find a way and a quick chat with the nearest dealer we bagged his pitch, when he moved and dave and Grant arrived the Dome was up, It was roasting so all the windows were opened and we left for town to get hammered.
Grant and Dave bought 2 giant footballs which everyone were beaten with, we managed to ''smuggle'' them into a pub and proceeded to beat everyone with them until a football match with the Surrey boys started to cause caos,
Mao had to confescate the balls to the jeers of all, until his demonstration of how to lick the back of his head with his tongue had all the local birds sqealing, then we moved on.
Next pub ....disaster , Grant decided to beat Nige over the head and took out a big glass overhead light smashing it to peices....we left, Grant and Dave stayed and a old geezer decided he wanted to fill Grant in for wrecking the pub to which Grant denied everything..
Into the Winter gardens we met Moo and the giant football was out on the dance floor only to be confiscated, after a bit of soul we left in the pooring rain to go back to the site.
When we arrived back at the site the nicely ventilated tent was flooded....Mao's gear completely soaked..arse.
the storm that night was beating its way through the tent and we all woke up wet, outside was a swamp.
We eventually packed up the big tent ... ''thanks for helping lazy bollocks....not''
Me , Mao, Grant and Dave left, Grant went up the motorway and me and Mao went on the A roads..rain ...rain .. rain..
Grant bless him broke down on motorway... now I know why he has an orange fetish...RAC..
All in all another adventure.

River Run 4
Thursday
This year due to work commitments of VOR it was agreed we would meet Thursday evening for a nice quiet night and a few drinks. There was a good turn out and things were going well, a steady turn around of scooterists from all clubs and we were soon getting in the party mood. After a few hours there was a celebrity appearance by the one and only Ray Stephens performing his one hit wonder The Streak. Just after his perfomance there must have been a weather alert which I missed as it was necessary to bring the Kayaks in the pub just in case we got stranded. After a few practice lengths of the table it was thought best by management to take the kayak and ourselves outside the Inn. We tried to coax Ian down from his room above the entrance but he must have been out as no matter how loud we shouted he did not appear. Big thanks must go to the night time litter fairies (basset hounds) for cleaning up around the tent areas all the unwanted food consumed during the day, a good touch and one that could be used on every rally.
Friday
Due to Work commitments for prospector the buffet breakfast had to be missed, but upon returning later in the day it was discovered that again a good supply of hangover food was available, apparently much of the morning was spent looking for the kayaks which were later found in some ones tent, (obviously a bed wetter). There was a steady stream of scooters coming in during the afternoon and the car parking policy was obviously working this year as car numbers were definitely down . Most of the early evening was spent catching up with friends before the evening set by Jay which was as normally top quality, special appearances by monkey boy on the floor throwing some shapes, With scoots still arriving tent space was getting to be a premium and some decided that it may be better to stop in other peoples tents, these decisions I believe were made under the kissing tree next to the burger van. With the night time scooter patrol set up by the fire Marshall , lefty and whistler ,it was off to bed knowing my bike was safe after events at Weston.
Saturday
The morning seen more scoots arriving and the sun gracing us with it?s presence, a leisurely morning was spent training for the eating and drinking games in the afternoon, The ferry to Tewkesbury seemed to be busy, and the ball pit and bouncy castle was being set up in the camping area for the afternoon. First game up was the wet T-shirt contest which I do believe could have been better contested judging by some of the spectators , but well done to the only contestant, the mens wet boxers event did have more of a contest, but its amazing how water temperatures effect the body differently depending on your gender. The cocktail drinking was contested fiercely by the 5 male contenders for the silver position, after gold was won by Lisa from G&C sc.
Pickled Egg eating was dumbed down this year with the use of trays and no having to drink the vinegar, the basset hounds were most upset about this as it denies them there supper later on in the evening.
Half yard of ale was closely contended by different clubs and seemed to provide a bit of climax to the event, or maybe it was 2012 fever catching up with everyone. Thankfully looking at the contestants there was no mankini uniform required this year for the event.
Limbo dancing was closely contested and it seems a pity that for all his practicing through the year grant could not make it to the podium even with his height advantage. Best (numerous) attempts were also made by the lady with the gravity disadvantage, and goes to prove that not every part heads south and it is amazing what can be achieved with support(under-wiring). The eventual winner being somewhat younger than the average contestant.
The evening set by Jay was as expected good, and the place was soon full of dancing Hawaiians and coconut trees. Security was this year provided by PRH Security solutions and was very efficient when called upon. With the end in sight for me I set off outside to find the kissing tree area as packed as the inside of the disco room, so made my way to bed. Another great weekend with like minded people and the thought of how this event keeps getting bigger and better, looking forward to 2013 but not looking forward to defending titles especially as my son will more than likely be competing?
